I formed Lakewood Ranch Search and Recruiting, Inc. because my consulting practice demanded travel that this business does not. After more than 3 million frequent Flyer miles, I’d had quite enough travel, and for family reasons wanted to stay around home base more, and enjoy what Lakewood Ranch and the surrounding areas have to offer. With this business, I can realize that objective while still “playing” in the fields where I have accumulated knowledge and contacts, especially software engineering.

The hottest market for software professionals right now is for those who deal in cyber security. The recent raids on accounts at Target and Sony have shown all organizations how vulnerable they are if they do not take the necessary measures. The highest number of “breaches” to security in the US, 42.3% in 2014, have actually been in the healthcare arena. Also strong are those jobs involving the analysis of “big data.” My son is a Professor at the Univ. of FL, Gainesville, and he does meta analysis. Mining data that has been gleaned through social media on the internet is an exciting field, and I have been published on the intersection of social media and healthcare.

There is a scarcity of trained and experienced professionals in these fields, so one of the things I do is get to know them while they are pursuing advanced degrees that are relevant. Once they have been out in the marketplace for a short while, they become “known” and some become “rock stars,” who need a #SoftwareTalentAgent like me. Many of these folks choose to work as independent contractors, but I concentrate of the ones looking for regular employee positions with key high tech organizations. I have relevant work experience at both the Boston area Route 128 corridor (for a major Information Technology staffing firm) and in Silicone Valley, CA. My daughter, Kimberly, an Employment Attorney, assists me in areas where there are questions about employee status (temp. to perm., green card situations, stock option vesting etc.)

I’ve enjoyed working with the folks at Abacus, and look forward to depending on them for web site modifications and other marketing-related support in the months and years to come. If you see David Grace and me in Starbucks in Lakewood Ranch, you can be sure we are discussing things Abacus Web Services can do to further help Lakewood Ranch Search and Recruiting, Inc. Call me at 941-306-5135 if you have a need for a software professional.
